Have you been to WalMart lately? Ours has some of the ugliest batiks I've ever seen - butt ugly! I would have agreed with you before I saw these! I did buy 4 yards of one design. Washed it & it's not too bad. Am using it in the Carol Doak BOM she has on Yahoo. But the others - ughhhh! I was stunned that WM even had batiks, though! Oh, $3.50 a yard!

I have no idea on a pattern yet. I LOVE scrappy quilts. I am buying pinks and purples, and teals, LOL, think they might look really good with black!

I was at a jo anns and couldn't not,,,, get some batiks, and thought I was getting 8.99 a yd. A yard of each. Well when I stood in line a long time to pay, and got in the car, I discovered,I paid 12.99 for two of my yard cut. I had a coupon for 50% off.But only on one. That will teach me to check the end of Bolt cardboard, before getting to excited, and all the bolts were together. So I thought they were all 8.99 , They are pretty, but I never, have paid that much for any material. Oh well live and learn.

I just brought a Carpenters Wheel wall handing in Batiks (my first experience with this fabric) and love the fabric/colors, is there a right or wrong side to this fabric. I know there are no Quilt Police but both sides seem to look the same to me.

Yes, batiks can be very addicting! They're just so pretty and different from other fabrics! :) Good luck with your new obsession! :)
