Check out Connecting Threads - they have just started a FABULOUS line of Batiks for $5.98 a yard. If you have not signed up to get their catalogs, you should - like going to a candy store.

Probably a good place to start understanding what Batik is would be connectingthreads.com and look in there --easier to see than to explain. The amazing range and depth of colors is what usually grabs at my heart!

On the Connecting Threads website, you can click on the batik of your pleasure and see a bigger swatch, not just a larger picture of what you are already looking at like other sites do. It's really neat - especially with batiks as there could be a surprise just off the swatch. The larger swatch will expose that!

If you are worried about the fusible not sticking, there is always Elmer's School Glue to help hold down any pieces which might lift up with handling.

Taking 20 high school students (with 3 other leaders) to Thailand on a mission trip in March. It's neighbor to the south is Indonesia or "Batikland". Also going to Japan, Laos and China. When students are given a little time to shop for family gifts I'll be on the lookout for material!!!

Batiks are my favorite fabrics! They add so much to a quilt that other fabrics just can't do. Enjoy your newfound addiction, lol
