    Question Batting for coasters?

What sort of batting do you use when making coasters? Do you use standard batting, like a Warm and Natural, or do you use Insulbrite? Do you use one or two layers of batting?

    Thanks!

You do not want the coasters to sit "high" as some glasses - especially wine glasses - will not be stable.

I use scraps of leftover cotton batting. Good way to use up small pieces of batting.

I use Insul-Bright. Sometimes I put a second layer of cotton fabric to help absorb any moisture, but I don't think it's really necessary.

I have 2 criteria - can a wine glass sit on it without wobbling? is it mainly going to be used as a coaster or like a trivet (requiring the heat insulation). I think most coasters are just for moisture protection so I use leftover thin batting or bits of flannel. I do the same thing when making placemats and table runners.
