To make some sense from your practice sandwiches try to come up with some ideas for later use of them. You can make potholders or put few blocks together and make quilts for cats or make them to the size of lap quilts to be used around the house. You can cut up some of your husbands old shirts for tops of them or some old T-shirts or your children clothes to make memory quilts. In this way you will give some meaning for use of batting and won't feel like you are wasting it. Good luck. Maryte

I got really lucky and found a partial bolt of poly batting at the thrift store for a steal. It's not the greatest quality, but, I can practice on it.
I keep all my sizeable scraps and join them, too. The smaller bits go into a bucket for stuffing anything that needs stuffed.

I use my batting scraps, but I don't sew them together. One of the challenges is to FMQ in different shapes, so if I pull two triangles - triangles they stay.

I've wondered about doing that - the practice pieces I've done so far aren't good enough to be worth keeping for anything. Thankyou for confirming it as a possibility.

Why don't you email Leah and ask her; I'm sure she'll understand and she's great at answering questions.

Thankyou for mentioning fleece -I might not have thought of that, and this afternoon I went into a shop that was selling fleece very cheaply, so now have a nice big piece to practice on!
