Cn someone please tell me. If there is something that can be put inside a tablerunner to make it so that hot dishes can be sat on it instead of a trivet. I am thinking that if I were to put a layer of insulbrite a layer of heavy batting and another layer of insulbrite inbetween the runner and backing. Any other sugestions?

I don't think you can beat that...lol
Sound more than enough especially with two layers of the insulbrite. Will watch for other responses.

that is going to make a really thick/lofty table runner. you can buy the 'silver fabric' that is used to make ironing board covers- 1 layer of that over a layer of thin cotton batting (like warm & natural) would probably be enough. I use a layer of cotton batting or even a layer of flannel in my table runners- and set pans on them all the time- I've never had any damage to my table...but maybe some tables need a lot more padding between hot dishes & table surface?

I quilted a table runner for my kitchen island so I could set out dishes buffet style without individual hot pads. Two insulbrites facing opposite and batting between. The only thing I did different was that I didn't do heavy quilting. I didn't want to punch "hot holes" in the insulbrite. It works great, just be sure to make wide enough for a 9 x 13 to be across the pad, that comes in handy.

Thanks for your opinions. I have some of the ironing board fabric for when I made iron caddys.
