I pieced together several different kinds of batting (cotton and poly) that was the same thickness (close, not necessarily exact) to use in a quilt...I called it Frankenstein Batting. I'll admit I quilted that quilt quite heavily, but after the binding was on the whole thing was soft and wonderful...no one could tell I had pieced the batting!! Since then I have tried to keep my different batting scraps in separate places so I can piece like with like. Because I LA quilt, I get my batting on rolls and I don't use too many different kinds, so it is not difficult to see/feel the difference between them.
