I was wondering if anyone could tell me where the batting goes in this quilt,,,
Do you put it between the two circles before you sew around them and then sew all 3 layers and then turn eveything to the right side. and go from there...

I made a sample without batting to see if I liked the pattern and it is a fun one to make. and I like how it comes out......but the part about the batting has me stumped me...Thnaks

cut a sq of batting and place it under your center square before you fold over edges of circle. Will that work?

If you're talking about a cathedral windows quilt, they don't usually have batting. They are very heavy already with all the folds.

I realize now that it's not a true cathedral windows. If you had batting in the layers it would probably be much too heavy in the folded areas.

I make the circles whenever I have some leftovers. I do put very thin batting in mine --- makes for a warm quilt. Put two circles right sides together on top of a circle of batting (I got best results from using flannel as batting), then sew together. Make your cut, then turn the whole thing inside out. Run along the inside seam w/ the end of a capped pen and you're all set.

Thank you all for your help, dunster. I did watch the video and it was very helpfull, I wish I could afford to get the ruler but will have to make do with a plate as my pattern.

Meemersmom thank you for telling me about using flannel for the batting, I'll give it a try.. I would never have thought of that. I have peices of flannel left over from different quilts and as long as you won't see it I can use all different colors YAAAAAA Thank you all

I really like the looks of this pattern and will try making a baby quilt first to see how hard it is to do, then I can go from there and try a bigger quilt. I also like it as there isn't much quilting on it just sewing the flaps down..

you don't really need the ruler to make these. but it helps to have a visual I think.
