    Default Batting Question

I would like to purchase good quality batting in bulk. Most of my quilting tends to be wall hangings, table runners and small quilts. My quilting mentor is suggesting 80/20 batting for my quilting... I have been purchasing at Joann's but not happy sometimes with their selection, NOT bashing Joann's I am thrilled to have a brand new store just opened close to me...
I see Connecting Threads has a batting sale of 30% off Hobbs battings. Is this a good sale? I have never bought batting in bulk before. Nancy's Notions has it by the yard, would that be a better purchase?
    Thank you for your input

The Hobbs 80/20 is great! The sale price for Connecting Threads is pretty good, especially if you spend enough for the free shipping.

I like the Hobbs from Connecting Threads and use alot of it. And they willingly ship to Canada.

I am unfamiliar with the term, 'scrim' as it refers to batting... could someone please enlighten me??

I always used 100 cotton till quite recently when I tried 100 bamboo and I love it, esp for bed quilts as it drapes beautifully

I like a thinner batting for wall hangings and really like the Dream Cotton Request.

Depends on the look you are going for in your wall hanging. I did some for a client and used Quilter's Dream Deluxe Cotton. She had done appliqué and I did very small background quilting. She was very pleased with the definition of the stitching with this batting.

It is embedded in W&N and Hobbs batting. It keeps the cotton batting from shifting like the old cotton batting always did. That is why W&N tells you can leave up to 10" unquilted. They wouldn't be able to suggest that without the scrim. Take a small scrap and pull it apart so you will see the scrim.

Yet one more question on batting, if you please. Has anyone used the 80/120 Batting blend from Nancy's Notions?? I see it's on sale right now. It is needle punched onto a lightweight scrim according to website info.
    thank you for any input!

Maybe (since you make small quilts besides table runners) you could use an entire roll of batting? Or maybe you just want to buy a king size batting and cut it down for various projects. Quilter's Dream battings are great, in my opinion.
