    Default Batting question

I have finished piecing a T-Shirt quilt and am happy with it. I will FMQ it myself. I am using a no pill plush fleece for the back. I have tried it on an unused 12 inch block and it lays and looks well with my FMQ. My question is do you think a need any batting inside it. I feel it is thick enough but just don't know if I should move forward with no batting. I have thought of putting a thin polyester batting in it. The blocks have a light featherweight interfacing already on the backs. What do you think -should I put a thin polyester batting inside or not?

    Thanks

If there is no show through the fleece, I'd go without any additional batting unless it is going to a very cold place!

If you really feel you need something, maybe a (preshrunk of course) flannel sheet will give you a good compromise.

I would quilt it with no batt. Why make it more difficult then it needs to be.

Tartan and Iceblossom - thanks for your comments about not using any batting. That is how I am going to move forward now, no batting.

Isn't it wonderful to be on the final part of making a quilt! Often, I'll use a piece of flannel in the center as a batting. I've found the flannel clings to both the front and backing and help with the quilting process. AND, it adds just the right amount of weight and warmth.

No bat is my thought too. These tend to be very heavy quilts to begin with. The fabric content also is much warmer. Have fun quilting your quilt.

I quilted a table topper once without any batting and it was very hard to quilt. Both sides was 100% cotton.

Your quilt may be easier. Your layers without batting would be thicker.
