    Default Batting

Do you buy your batting by the roll (30 yards) or by the yard? I've started using the Hobbs fusible and I think I can get it for $5.16 a yard if I buy the whole thing. Seems like a good deal. I paid $16 for a queen size piece from Connecting Threads when they had a sale. Where do you buy yours? What do you like the best?

I usually buy batting in packages in the size I need (and stock up on different sizes/colors/brands when they go on sale or have a coupon at around 50% off). I like Hobbs and Warm & Natural.

If you buy a roll then actual yardage is a bit cheaper. I do not use fusible because I have a longarm. I purchase my batting rolls from Marshall's Dry Goods in Batesville, Arkansas.

I buy batting as I need it.... sometimes can find packages of batting at an estate sale cheaper. I really don't have the space to store a large roll even though it's cheaper that way.

I like to get the whole roll when I can afford it. I will have to save up for that. Just now it will have to be by the yard until the taxes come in.

I buy it by the roll. I like having it on hand and not having to wait for the right sale, and cutting the amount I need at the time I need it. When I bought pre- cut/packaged batting it seemed like I never had the size for the current project.
I like Warm an Natural because sometimes I want to preshrink the batting and Warm and Natural preshrinks better than most other brands.

I have purchased several Warm Co. rolls of batting from JoAnn's when on sale (Warm and Natural, Warm and White, Soft and Bright). I've also purchased several "special" batts (silk, wool) in a package. I don't use fusible battings so can't tell whether that's a good price.

I just do charity tops but the last time I bought a roll of Hobbs batting at JAF but I noticed recently that they dropped the line again !! It was seat because the batting was folded twice and contains 15 yards. HATE to pay for the shipping of a roll !!

I bought batting in a roll for the first time a few months ago. I am very pleased. At first I was concerned about storage, but I just pushed my clothes over and put it in my closet. I figure I am always going to quilt, or so it seems, so I may as well just "go for it." I bought mine from JoAnn's with a coupon. Before then I would buy ten yards at a time. I rarely have bought the packages. I use Warm and White, because I just seem to like a lot of white in my quilts.

I used to buy my Hobbs 80/20 fusible at Michaels with a 50% off coupon. They no longer stock the fusible batts at my Canadian store!
