You said it all and only a quilter can understand.

That was very well said. It always hurts when someone complains about the price of a quilt or you see one of your quilts at the bottom of a dog bed. Some people just don't understand the love that goes into each one. Every time I sell a quilt, I feel like I've put a child up for adoption. I always hope they go to a good home.

I agree with everything that was said. I rarely sell any of my masterpieces. First of all people cringe when you tell them how much it will cost, and secondly, it is hard to give up something that has so much of you in it. My projects are gifts to someone I know will properly appreciate it. I occasionally make a wedding gown, and it is the same thing; people don't want to pay what you expect. They have no concept of the time and effort taken.

Thanks for putting into words what goes into a quilt - it would be nice if those we choose to give these works of art understood this as well

When I look at your quit, I see the hours of work combining just the right fabric and patterns together to create in your mind a pleasing quilt (because that that stage we don't see the tangible output). I think of the hours of cutting, and sewing. The frustration when seams have to be ripped, and re-sewn. Then finally the flimsy. I understand the thoughts that you have to weigh up about borders - to border or not - if so what colors??? Then there's the quilting - what will enhance the pattern - bring to life or diminish certain areas - and the hours of work involved in the quilting. Finally the binding - another choice which needs careful thought and consideration.

And at the end of your hard labor all is say is "what a beautiful quilt - love it!". What I really mean is all of the above. It never ceases to amaze me what someone can conceive in their mind and create with their hands. Well done to you all :)
You have so eloquently said what many of us have in our hearts. Thank you for the beautiful words and thank all of the awesome quilters who share their work with those of us who can only dream of doing the same. I am thankful for all of the inspiration I receive here, from the newbies' enthusiasm and awesome work to the very professional quilters who never cease to amaze me.

Thank you for understanding. I quilt because I just have to express myself and this is the way I do it. I want people to understand the love, the need to express my thoughts and creativity. I know people who say I'm bored, they need to find something creative to fill their souls and occupie their minds and feel good about themselves.

Well said. I rarely comment on all the beautiful quilts because of time restraints. However I love looking at the quilts and the inspiration I get from this board.

Yes, that was well said and probably understood from all who quilt that we mean more than we sometimes have time to say. After all we go on this board, we shop for quilting, we quilt and then we give away and start all over again. What a wonderful life that we can do all this.
