Bernina 1630 Plus with quilting items
#11
I have a 1630 with about 40 feet and the walking feet. It is a GREAT machine. It has a stitch called the "basting" stitch which is terrific for basting. And that 9MM is perfect for certain applications. That said, it is a computerized machine and the boards can have problems and do sometimes need replaced. Also, the "tracker" ball has its share of issues. However, to this point I know of no machine that couldn't be fixed. I suggest that you check out the Yahoo group called Bernina1630Devotees. They discuss everything under the sun and have a wealth of information that they share freely. I'm sure they can help you with what a reasonable price would be for the machine you are looking at based on its prior use, number of feet/accessories, etc.. Good Luck!!! If it is as gently used as you have indicated, I would buy it as a second one in a heart beat! Best wishes and please let us know what you decided. This machine is a JOY to sew with (and I own 3 Bernina's at this time: a 730, a 1630, and a 440QE.)

I purchased a 1530 in 1991, which is the model just below the 1630. My 1530 was a great machine. Before I purchased this I would visit with a Bernina dealer to see what a fair price would be. I think $600 is on the high side. I sold my 1530 five years ago for $350. It too had numerous presser feet, including a walking foot. The table is standard with the machine.
