Well I was out with an older lady friend of mine who decided she wanted to start quilting with me.

We were out looking at fabrics at the LQS and she, for fun asked, "If I wanted a middle of the road Bernina what would I get and how much would it be."

I quickly intergected...she doesn't need all of the embrodery stuff, just the free motion, 1/4 foot for peicing...I was kinda embarrased because I thought she has NO idea that these are expensive.

Anyway the sales lady told her about it and I went back to the clearance section to look at jelly rolls.

So upon check out my friend's total is a little over $3100 dollars. I look at her with wide eyes, as the sales clerk bring over her Bernina 440QE.

I almost fell over...I was like...I can't BELIEVE you bought that without knowing if you will like quilting or not. She just shrugged and said, well if I don't end up liking quilting I have a friend who can use it and winked at me.

I was rather STUNNED...so looks like I have a new machine to play on because I think she plans on leaving it at my house so when she comes over we can quilt together.

It will be a GREAT time and I'm excited about it....but imagine my surprise....mam, that will be 3124.63

Wow, can you imagine having that amount of free cash. Have fun teaching her to use it.

I hope you have fun with it. Maybe you will have to spend some time on it so you can show her how to properly use it!!
I have a 630E and took a class to learn all about how to use the thing. I only use a small fraction of the stitches available.

I think I want to be your next door neighbor so I could borrow a cup of sugar an egg, or a Bernina 440QE! Have fun with your new toy and your very generous friend!!

Geez! You should take her to look at new tires! You might end up with a convertible that she stores in your garage! LOL!

I have a Bernina 430 and I LOVE it. It is an investment and I don't think either of you will regret her buying it! However- I planned that purchase for months. I can't imagine being able to buy one on a whim! I would have been shocked, too.

Maybe if she does like quilting, you can convice that she should have a long-arm and frame to work on (lol)
