Default Bernina 710, anyone have one yet?

I am a 440 QE owner and have recently viewed and drooled over the 710 model. I am in love all over again. I thought my 440 was the very best for what I enjoy doing (piecing and quilting). But, then I saw that wonderful 710. I love the fact of the extended throat and the touch screen and the thread cutting. I also looked at the upper end of the 700's and since I already have the embroidery module for my 440 I don't really need those. I also already have the BSR so I don't need that on the 710 and my dealer said she would credit me for a BSR. I think I'm gonna have to get it ...or I guess I should say order it as they are back ordered now. Do you have one and do you love it?

When I got my 440 I likened it to my husbands Harley Davidson. You know Harley and Bernina both top of the line in my book. So when I told him of the three new 700's in the Berninas he was surprised that I preferred the Sportster model. Sportsters are the smaller Harley's.

I have the older Bernina Artista 180. I love it and it does such nice embroidery. I want one of the 700's but I just can't justify buying one since mine is still perfect. That's a lot of $$$ for a retired lady like me! They do look like they have it all though. Good luck in buying one.

I just picked up a 750 on Saturday and my sister-in-law has a 710. They are absolutely wonderful! I went from a Singer Quantum to my 750 and it does take a little getting used to. Love the larger throat space, the knee lifter, bobbin winder, HUGE bobbin and so much more I'm just dizzy thinking about it (have to get upstairs and play some more). We were told that actually the BSR doesn't come with the 710 so not sure how she'll credit you for that. If you really think you want one better get it ordered right away. I waited 6 weeks but that may be relatively short because my dealer already had it on order for his shop and he had been waiting since they were released in the fall.

I am dreaming of a new machine with a longer throat. I use my 440 on my Bernina quilt frame and it does a beautiful job but I can only do narrow rows of quilting because of the limited throat size. Does the BSR from your 440 fit the 710? That would save some money. But if not, and if you plan on quilting, wouldn't you want the BSR? I find it essential to doing nice quilt stitches.

My dealer said the BSR would fit EVERY Bernina machine. It may need to be updated or adapted for a particular machine. Oh, and I had forgotten about the larger bobbin. Another plus.

The new 700 series are awful pretty! The BSR would fit any Bernina with the same foot fitting but not all have the port to plug in the computer wire or the computer to run it?

I believe that the BSR from your 220 will fit the 710. I am also looking at that or the 750 - my mom has the 830 and the embroidery unit will work on the 750 so that is what I am trying to decide on. I have heard good things

I just purchased the 710 and love everything about it but having a hard time understanding the computer part of it. Did it take awhile for anyyone who has one take a while to "get it"? Or is it just me, have had a class so far and two demonstrations, another class to come.

Take as many classes as you can on your machine. These are so much more than "just" a sewing machine. Pay special attention to needle size and thread size. The machines do not like to multitask. If you think you want the BSR get it now - trying to retrofit a machine is very costly!
