Default Bernina Activa 210 Sewing Machine Needles

I have this machine and I broke the needle yesterday. I had more needles but the needles in this pack seem a bit too large. I think I had a newer pack but I can't seem to find them so I want to buy some new ones. I've checked my manual and still am not quite sure the best size to get. I sew almost all cottons. Any thoughts on the right size needle to get for this machine? Thank you.

90/14 is what I use on cotton.

I have a Bernina and use Superior titanium coated topstitch needles for piecing. I use size 80/12 for piecing. 90/14 is what I use for thick thread.

I use a size 11 or 12 for piecing, machine embroidery and general sewing. Size 14 or 16 for quilting and heavier fabrics.

The correct needle size depends on the thread you're using. The style of the needle depends on the fabric. Superior's guide to needle selection is helpful - https://www.superiorthreads.com/educ...r-needle-size/

I use Schmetz needles in a variety of sizes in my Bernina Activa. I especially like the Microtex needles, size 12/80 for piecing cottons.

I love my Berninas (yes, plural) & my baby lock quilt pro. I prefer Schmetz or Klasse 75/11 or 80/12 sharps/microtex/jeans needles (all very similar) for piecing & 90/14 for quilting, unless using heavier thread. Then I like a 90/14 top stitch. "Universal" needles are okay, but I think stitch quality is better with a sharper point

I use 90/14 needles and I usually only sew on cotton with aurifil thread. You may want to go to a Bernina sewing machine dealer or your LQS may be helpful too.

Size and type of needle to match the thread weight and ply is as important as proper tension. It took me a long time to realize that.

I have an Artista 180 and have always used 80/12 for general sewing. 90/14 for thick fabrics or threads. At the guide classes for both of my Berninas they recommended Microtex needles and I have good luck with them.
