    Default bernina embroidery software

I am about to buy myself the embroidery unit for the 430 and was wondering which software you all prefer and why ? they seem very expensive and not sure if I really need it. I do have artlink installed and I think I will get editor lite included in the package.

On bernina there seems to be two types of software one is called editor plus and the other designer plus. What is the difference between the two ?

I have a Husqvarna diamond and use the 4D software. I do use the software a lot. I do not know the software you are talking about, but get one that allows you to change, fix, add or take off a design. This way you can really customize any design.

The Bernina software is quite expensive. It is the only one I have used. It is wonderful. You can do most anything with it. Mine even includes a quilt pattern section. It includes a lot of embroidery and you can resize, monogram, appliqué digitize, etc.

I have a Bernina 440 and I still use my old, outdated Editor Lite! I also have Artlink (free from the Bernina Site) downloaded and sometimes use it but it doesn't have any lettering. I would find out before purchasing the embroidery unit which version of software you are getting and then find out if Bernina still supports that version. My Editor Lite is no longer supported and will not run on Windows 8 - so I keep XP loaded on my desktop computer just for embroidery. Also are you aware that you will have to run the software through your computer and download the designs to your sewing machine via a cable. Bernina 430 and 440 do not have usb slots.

I have several Bernina emb. software. It is for the Artista. Friends wife passed he had a yard sale and I bought it for 5.00 each. Thought I might fine someone who would love to have it. Would this go with that machine? Version 3.0 software.

I didn't check the version but I am so pleased to have been able to buy the embroidery unit for a reasonable price I am not really worried. I live in France, bought the embroidery unit from a lady in MI and she shipped it to a friend of mines house in Houston who is going to bring it back in her hand luggage and I will pick it up from her in Luxembourg. So how is that for travelling all over, lol, especially if the unit was made in Switzerland.

Which software do you use ? editor plus or designer plus ? they seem to be different.
