Margo in Maine

I am hand quilting Ohio Collection(UFO that has sat for a few years)....a large quilt...what is the best batting to use....will be using several designs to hand quilt.

hobbs heirloom cotton or 80/20 is my favorite for hand quilting- i also love the dream wool batt- but it is a bit (loftier)
but the hobbs cotton batts are really nice to work with-
also mountain mist batts are pretty much for hand quilting-

Hobbs 80-20 is probably the easiest on your hands for hand quilting.

i like and use the 80/20 blend needle seems to work better

I know alot of folks disagree but I use Warm & Natural (or white). I don't seem to have any issues with it but then again, I've not used anything else so really don't have anything to compare to. But I can needle it just fine. Even with the batiks I'm currently handquilting.

My vote goes to Hobbs 80/20. I found that Warm & Natural is to hard for me to needle. It is so thick. Just my opinion.

My vote goes to Warm and Natural that is all I have ever used and have never had a problem with it.
I might have to try the Hobbs 80/20 and compare the two.

I agree...warm & natural cotton needles too hard.

I am using Hobbs poly-down on the quilt I am currently hand quilting. My first time using this batting and it is really easy to quilt. Will probably use again. Currently Connecting Threads has batting on sale.
