Best book for wholecloth and/or trapunto patterns
Hi,
I'm really loving free motion quilting and I've just recently finished my first wholecloth. It was a freebie pattern, and even though my FMQ-skills are really shaky it really turned out nice in the end. So now I have a hunger for more and I'd really like to do my own design. I'd also like to try trapunto to make the design pop a bit more.
But I'd like to have a "sampler book" on the traditional patterns and options for a wholecloth quilt.
What can you recommend? I hope to put it on my christmas list.

Have you searched the web? If so did you find any thing. What size patterns/ trapunto are you looking for ( pillow size, wall hanging, bed size.) Amazon has some listed.

I've searched the web but there is not much (that I can found) which is free or in good quality. And if I'm going to pay for something I would rather buy a book. Also, I'm not looking for a specific size of pattern, rather samples which can be rearranged to create bigger patterns. Examples would be hearts, feathers, wreaths (correct word?) etc...

I have all of Karen Mctavish books and she has tons of samples patterns for rearranging. Bought my off of Amazon.

One way to try out trapunto would be to buy a pillow panel, put a backing on it, and stuff the items on the pillow to highlight them, and stitch around them`. Then you can make it into a pillow or use as a large block in a quilt.

Check out the book...Trapunto By Machine... By Hari Walner. Also consider a series of stencils. One of the stencil manufactures produced a series of stencils based on whole cloth quilts in the collection of Old Sturbridge Village. Stencils are available that can be combined into larger sizes. Since I have designed many in all sizes, it would take much space to give all info. Perhaps these suggestions will get you started.
