I bet you'll get a variety of responses regarding everyone's favorite cutting mat - I recently replaced an Olfa with the new Creative Grids 18x24" mat and I really like it. I believe it's thicker and so far it has worked very well. I'm sure all the brands work well enough so it will boil down to personal preference and how much you wish to spend. I've never tried a Martelli mat but I often see reviews that they work superbly and I'm guessing are pricier.

I recently bought a Stripology cutting matt. It seems nice, A bit heavier than the others I have.

I have both a Martelli & Quilters Select & they are wonderful. They are a bit pricey so I waited for a sale. Am not sorry as I've had them for years & they still look new.

I have had every brand from famous to unknown. My favorite is Quilter's Select. My favorite other one is the Roundabout from Martelli.

Just like Onebyone, I've tried pretty much all of them too. Don't really have a favorite.
However, I've been seriously considering this one from Cutterpillar that doubles as a lightbox -
I've seen it in action, and it seems like a good solution for dimming eyesight and for fussy cutting and for applique.

I've already got the wafer light box, and I found a mat that can be used with it.

I have the Cutterpiller lighted cutting mat. I like the non gridded mat best for fabric cutting as the gridded one is too busy when lit for me. I use it more then I thought I would.

Not sure of what brand I have as it's 4x8 to completely fit over my table. It's also can be used on either side. One side is green with markings and the other side is black with markings. It's also a self healing mat. Of course the company online where I ordered it, is no longer in business either. But I've been very happy with it. Have had it for maybe 8 years now. I wanted one to fit the table I had at the time but couldn't find one so built my table to fit the mat I could find and that's how I came to have a 4' x 8' table/mat.

I did order, when they were on sale at Martelli, a rotating round mat that came with a pressing mat too. Love that mat as it's also a self healing mat. I find self-healing mats seem to save my blades from getting dull as fast. Whether that's true or not, I'm not sure but it seems to work for me.

Fiskar is mine as they have a lifetime replacement if yours is damaged and needs to be replaced. I found this on these boards, sent them a pic and now hav a brand new pair of snips--cost for new pair $0.00. Received them in about 4 weeks but it saved me a lot of time. I will never purchase anything except Fiskars for sewing supplies ever again.

Hope this helps. Have a Wonderful Year--2023
