I like to feel the fabric. If it feels good, and I like the print, then I buy it. Store name, manufacturer, etc are secondary.

I have found that I like the following fabrics most - not becuase of their name, but because of their feel and great colors that appeal to me.
    Avlyn
    Alexander Henry
    SSI - South Sea Imports
    Northcott

Check for David's Textile fabrics at Walmart. It is excellent quilting fabric. My favorite is Northcott but only buy it on sale.

Also I really like Connecting Thread fabric. Right now they have factory seconds for about $2.30 a yard and it's only the print that's not perfect, the quality is great. I bought a lot of that to use for pieced backing. I honestly can't see a thing printed wrong.

I have bought quite a bit of Debbie Mumm fabric from Joanns and I love it. I think the quality is as good as most quilt shops. If its your style the price is right right now. It's 50% off for the next two weeks. i just bought some this morning to make DGD a new quilt. The regular price was $6.99 so got it for $3.50 per yard.
