best way to cut 240 ft of batting - 1 1/8" wide please help!

I can't find my pattern, but she may be making something that uses 2 1/2" strips where you lay the batting in the centre and zig zag it shut. Then you zig zag the already quilted strips together to make a mat or a table runner.
Did I make it yet? Well I sewed two strips together to check it out and the whole thing is somewhere......

I think she is insulating pipes with overlaping wraps. Several years ago some of us participated in constructing fleece faucet socks for the 4-H camp to prevent outdoor plumbing from freezing. I thought it was stupid until I did an internet search and found that such things did exist and do work.
