I found a great floor waist high LED lamp with magnifier lens at a Needlework Shop. It runs on batteries or electric. I can hand sew black on black with black thread and see every stitch. I use it for machine quilting too. It is the perfect height to put in front of the needle.

Peckish, Ikea says the lamp in not available to order from their website, only available in stores. Great excuse for a day trip to find an Ikea store nearby.

I have the IKEA clamp-on LED lamp. I like it a lot. It is actually quite powerful and doesn't get too hot to touch.

Thanks, this looks like a good idea.

Like many others, I find the goose neck ott lights the best. You can direct the light right on to your work and have a nice wide area that is well lit.

I recently purchased a magnifier/light as described by BellaBoo. My husband loved it for reading, so I returned to Joann's to buy another for me. They were 50% off last week. :-)

I also have this next to my comfortable chair. Have had it for over a decade.
