I was pin basting my quilt on the living room rug like the video I watched on youtube suggested. Took forever I may try a different method next time. Anyway I finished got up pulled the pins holding the backing tight and couldn't pick my quilt up. I had basted it to the rug. LOL took me another 45 minutes to cut it off the rug.

That's hilarious! Thanks for the laugh. Although I do feel sorry for you. Here's how I do mine... I use the extra large binder clips from the office supply store and clip my back, then batting, then top to a long folding table. That holds it taut while you pin. Much easier than getting down on the floor and no rug to pin to! LOL

No, you are not the only one. Comes with re-do and lots of grit and determination. Sometimes it turns into a battle of wits to see if we can win or if the quilt can win. Doesn't it brighten your day to get a chuckle like that from something you think would happen to 'someone else'?

It took me one time and only one time of doing this to realize that I just can't baste on carpet. Now (when I don't have time to go some place that has large tables) I just move my table out of the way, sweep and mop, and then tape my backing to the floor in my dining room.
I much rather going to a place that has a dining hall or even the library where they have conferance tables and putting two together and basting on them. Much easier and easier on the body!
