I have the electric one from Simplicity. Love it. I have all the tip sizes too. I have a bin full of ready made bindings. I cut and sew strips together whenever the mood strikes to just sew something.

I love my Simplicity one - the electric one. I don't always use it for a smaller quilt, but since I tend to make Queen and King size, it makes life easier.

I use the binding where you just fold the strip in half, sew it down and then turn it to the other side. The double fold where the ends meet in the middle, and then fold in half again is not useful to me.
this is the same for me. however, for general sewing use, i love the binding makers... i can never find the right premade binding

I use the Clover tape makers (I have two sizes) to make straight grain binding for smaller items, very rarely bias. I just cut a bias point to guide the strip into thr tape maker.
