Default Binding a flannel quilt--flannel or cotton??

I have just finished my first flannel quilt and am apprehensive of binding it with flannel. I'm afraid, since it is less densely woven that a flannel binding will not wear well. Should I bind it in regular cotton? This quilt will be used on a bed.

If you are concerned that the binding fabric is too thin and won't last then use something stronger. If you want to keep the same look, then use the flannel but maybe fuse some cotton to the wrong side of the flannel to add strength.
