binding help

[QUOTE=Marcia_PA;6764835]I am making this orphan block into a lap quilt or wall hanging for a friend. I liked the colors in the Jacobean fabric from my stash, although I'm not sure it suits the mood of the house block.
Anyway, I thought I would use the plaid bias binding but now wondering if it doesn't suit the style of the flowered fabric either. Maybe the brown fabric would be better. (I tried the beige fabric too but think it is too blah--I don't have enough of that fabric anyway.) I also have the muslin colored fabric with the light green print, although I didn't audition that for binding. The rest of the fabrics in the quilt are from my scraps.
What do you think?[/Q

Thanks you for all of your thoughts and suggestions. The more I looked at the quilt and the border, the more I thought they were mismatched. They matched in color, but not in style. So I unstitched the border I like the border fabric but think I'll save it for another, more formal, medallion-type center. Maybe Carolina lilies or flower baskets!
I shopped Joann fabrics (only fabric store in town besides Walmart), bought some other border fabric, brought it home and wasn't satisfied with it. So on a trip to Walmart this morning I bought a pink/rose 'cottage rose' fabric on a light blue background that I think will work better. It's a less formal style. I'll post a photo here when I get it together.

Here is the quilt with the new border fabric. I don't like the fabric as well as the original but I think it better fits with the center block. I added a little striped flange for a break between the two blue fabrics.
I've been thinking of adding some applique in the sashing around the house block, but don't know if I'll do that. It might be more work than I want to do and the space isn't that big--maybe 3 inches top & bottom and sides a little less. Maybe I'll look for some buttons to sew around it. I just don't know!
I'll probably bind it with a medium blue fabric--I guess that means another trip to Joanns! I want to have it completely done by next Thursday
