Sometime ago I saw a video for putting the binding on a quilt using a lap seam foot. I cannot find that now. Can any on you remember seeing anything about it on here or on the internet. I have a quilt ready for binding and I'd love to try this method. Thanks.

I have watched the zip bind tool binding system and just don't understand how it catches the fabric if stitching in the ditch but there is a video. Maybe that is what you are thinking of. Nancy's Notions has it as well as many other places but don't know if it would be worth the money.

I stumbled over that earlier today, but you need a 8mm flat fell sea,foot, which is available for Bernina, but I don't think you can get that for any other brand of machine. I looked into it on the Babylock site, and it is a no go. Can't remember exactly where I saw it though.

I use a zipper foot when doing my binding.
I cut 2.5" WOF strips, join on the diagonal. I then use my 1/4inch foot to sew my binding to the back of the quilt. Fold binding to the front, change to my zipper foot and sew it to the front. I get an excellent result, that is sturdy and find that I don't 'slip' off the binding when I use the zipper foot to attach it.

Fiona, that sound like a good idea. I'll have to give my zipper foot a try on a small project to see how it looks. I am currently working on 12 placemats ...

I have always for decades used my 1/4 foot to attach the binding. I know some people use their walking foot. Sometimes it seems that someone is always coming out with something new for us to purchase.

I stumbled across this method a while ago and have bound 2 quilts using this process! It is fantastic. I've never been a fan of binding by machine because one side always looks terrible. Using this method is very easy and looks great from both sides.

A lot of machines have a flat felled seam foot available. I just ordered one for my Elna 740 specifically to try this technique.
