Do I Iron the Binding down first?

Can I use T Pins to hold down my Binding til I get it Hand Quilted? or should I use Binding Clips?

I never did this before and I want to make sure that I am doing this right

Thanks for your help in this....

Have a look at these two videos and they will show you how easy it can be. You will get better and more accurate with each quilt.

I tried the quilt clips and had coordination problems with them. I invented a new use for those little binder clips from Walmart/Dollar store. I now use them since they don't bend the fabric, and do not catch my tread as I am trying to hand sew. I use about ten(3-4 inches apart) in a row, then remove them as I stitch up to them. I just work until they are all off, then put them on again. I have not ironed the binding once it is on the quilt. I just fold the binding over, then put the clips on.

I have been sewing binding down for many years but recently someone told me that ironing it down first made it easier, and they were right. I iron from the right side before turning to the back and it makes a world of difference! After I ironed it I found that I didn't need to pin--
