I just finished a quilt binding using Fons and Porters glue stick to hold the binding on the wrong side. It worked better than steam a seam etc.
It did not gum up my machine either. I also use the stitch in the ditch foot, it is well worth the price and works perfect for bindings.

Thanks for the tip. I'd like to try this. I sometimes prefer a stitch in the ditch binding. If it's done right you can't even see the stitching and it almost looks hand sewn. But it takes lots and lots of pins and consequently lots and lots of pin pricks. This sounds like it would simplify the process and save my fingers.

    Rose Mary,

What machine do you have? Is the Stitch in the Ditch foot specifically for your machine? I have never heard of this foot. I have a new Juki machine so I can do my own quilting, I have been paying someone for years to do it for me.

    Thanks
    Anna

I have the H.Viking Sappire 850. Check with the shop for the stich in the ditch foot for your machine. It looks like a 1/4 in foot except the metal piece is in the center to guide you in the ditch. I love it. The glue stick really sticks well and holds the binding in place nice and tight. No more pins.

Well, I am a bit bummed. Juki does not make a Stitch in the Ditch foot apparently. And the feet I did find are for snap on and my machines feet are screwed on.

But I did order the glue stick from Connecting Threads! Great idea.
