Binding

I use a combination of these three videos. You could use any one of these but since I had to teach myself as well (like you), I felt like I gained the most knowledge by watching all three.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=buCKs...mbedded#at=298
first steps - I use this link to find out how to cut the binding and how to sew the binding strips together to form a continuous binding strip
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wprg5vzkuGw
I use this link for machine sewing the binding to both the front and the back ( she has a second video to this as well)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1dauc...ature=youtu.be
last steps - I use this last link (only the end portion) to learn how join the two pieces at the end to create a smooth join.
I just did my first binding last week and found it so easy after watching these! Hope it helps :)

I just read this. I didn't mean to say that I'm good at doing this binding like I'm bragging. I meant to say that I'm good to go and everything is all good. I certainly don't want to come off looking like a braggart!

The two best tips I received on binding were to cut it 2 1/4 inches instead of the typical 2 1/2 inches and to cut the overlap exactly the same as the width of the binding. My bindings now fit perfectly every time. I can't remember where I saw these two tips but I expect it was either here or in a link I found here. Good luck!!
