Most quilters cut their binding either 2.25" wide or 2.5" (wider if one is finishing the binding by machine stitching instead of hand stitching) This is double folded binding which might be better to use. I have a simple formula. You add your width twice plus you length twice. Divide the total by 36. It is easy to remember a yard and it will provide you with the extra you will need. Then divide by the width of your strip. It comes out to be 24 inches so 3/4 of a yard will work. Having done professional quilting for over a decade, this mathematical calculations never left me short. I probably have quilt over 200 quilts. GOOD LUCK. Love those sales....
