If you aren't already doing this, it might help: After your sew it to the front, press the binding out away from the quilt from the front side before you hand sew to the back. It folds over easier. I use the clips too...best invention!

The quilt looks adorable, by the way!
    totally agree.

Have you already trimmed the ends off the binding? If so, I wouldn't remove the binding. I would follow one of the suggestions given.

The only rule is there are no rules. If it doesn't bother you that the back binding is wider and your corners miter nicely, go for it. If you want it smaller, sew a deeper seam but only if it means you will not loose any of your points if you have them on the front. Also folding it double again will work (may have to work with the fullness at the corners), or you could take it off and re cut it. Sometimes there are no right and wrong ways, just different ways! Whatever you do, just do what you will like so when it's done you are happy with it. I like the stripes, very cool!

Sorry to say, but I would take it off. Use a razor and have a sit!

I would leave it - have a wider binding on the backside.
..looking forward to seeing the finished result! :)

I just had the same thing happen to me. I cut strips of batting, butted them up to the quilt edge inside the sewn binding and folded the binding strips over just as usual. You can't even tell it's there...the binding is full and the same width back and front.
