It will continue to shed dye, which may or may not be absorbed by the fabrics it comes into contact with, and this is not limited to the other fabrics in the quilt. I wouldn't take the chance.

Thanks for all the tips! I'm going to wash all three pieces some more...even though I said I wasn't! (I just hate to admit defeat!!!) LOL!
I need to get some Retayne and keep it on hand just in case. Do those of you who use it really use hot water? I just cringe when I think of putting these bright colors in hot water!
Thanks again, and have a great Christmas. At the rate I'm going, I'll still be washing fabric!

You have to use hot water or it won't work. My reds are still bright.

Multiple washings is a waste of time and energy. All you have to do is soak the bleeder fabric in hot water, with a dab of detergent, overnight. This has worked for me every single time.

Yes it really takes hot water .. the temp needs to be over 140 degrees... and most hot water tanks are not set that high. Do take the temp of your water prior to treating... and once treated you MUST wash in cold water or you remove the retayne and the bleeding can start again.
