okay i know that there is a setting solution for batiks that bleed real bad. is it called synthop? (sp?) Also can I get it at a local grocery store. I have looked and looked and can't seem to find anything that will stop the bleeding. I did find the color catchers by shout, would this work or do I just need to set the fabric? I have a front loader so can't use the shout color catchers. are there any that can be used in a front loader?

I can't use them in my washer I read. They either don't work or they are bad for your machine i guess.

Oh I usually do bleed my fabric in the sink. I was thinking after it was made into a quilt and finished. I was trying to find something that I could throw into the wash with the finished quilt. I also am looking for something that I might find at the grocery store because I can't hit the quilt shop for a couple of days.

I use fabric catchers in my front load all the time. And they work great, but always wash in sink with retain before piecing.

Retayne is sold in many LQS and it is also available online. Synthropol suspends the dye in the water so it can't bleed on other fabrics, Retayne sets the dye :D:D:D
