I am self taught to quilt from trial and error. My biggest problem is with points as in a Dresden Plate pattern. I did one for my youngest son Danny and his wife Ricci when they got married. Well it was started then but it took me two years with alot of ripping and sewing. I want to do more patterns but shy away from pointy patterns. HELP!!
    Happy sewing

I am too, therefore, I never make them. I am very committed to only make quilts I enjoy making. I am never afraid of trying new things, but if I don't enjoy it I never try it again.

I've never made a Dresden Plate so I probably can't help you, but I'm sure that with all the excellent quilters on here, somebody surely can.

This is funny (a funny coincidence), because I just answered on another post about "how to keep the points in star blocks". I'm not real familiar with the Dresden Plate so I don't know if the info I gave would help you or not. Here's a link to it, if you want to check.

    Hope it helps you.

    Good luck.

Are you piecing or appliquing the block?

Glue the pieces together first and then sew. Perfect every time.

That's my favorite way too. It works just great.

I use the Darlene Zimmerman easy Dresden ruler - perfect points every time. Using this method the 'plate' is appliqued to a background block.

Welcome. Good luck. I have no knowledge on your question. Sorry.
