The only one I know is a pattern called Minnesota Blizzard. It is by Gathering Friends, a quilt shop whose owners also write numerous quilt patterns in Minnesota. I just googled Minnesota Blizzard quilt pattern and it came up with a picture. Hope this is what you are referring to.

is this the instructions?
If this is the one it sounds like it might just be a string quilt.

Is there no line drawing in the pattern. Don't try to search for a picture, all the references came up empty for a picture. Reread the instructions and visualize it. It apears to be similar to a jelly roll quilt except you sew random widths of fabric into a long row and then continue until yu have the width you need.

I found the attached in flickr, a quilt called Merry Blizzard by Carole K. (indigocarole). It looks like what the Blizzard quilt would look like if the rows became columns. What do you think?
