Default A block name without an illustration for it - - -

is about as useful as saying

I'll meet you in New York City sometime.

There are several blocks that go by different names.
There are several names that have several blocks associated with them.

As far as that goes - if I see a block that I like - in most cases, I really do not need to know the name of it to make it.

Yup you said it! And it becomes really frustrating (and confusing) when you google a block name and come up with 2 or 3 different patterns.

I also don't like the trend of quilt magazines taking a traditional pattern and renaming it! They should list the original name someplace on the page. I also wish someone would invent a site where you can draw a block and all the names for it will come up. like that's going to happen, right?

Someone did! On Google, pick the "Images" link, click the little camera to the right of the search box and it upload a picture. It will search for similar pictures.

Also - to search for an image that is already on the internet (as opposed to uploading it from your computer): Click and drag the image you want into the search box, then click "images". It will find other websites where that image is posted.
