blocks and whole quilts
Some people use blocks for quilts and sew them together for a finished quilt. Others start with a large piece of material, the whole quilt dimension, and sew the blocks by moving the whole piece of cloth around the machine.
In general are most quilts made in the USA by individuals at home or in small shops using the one piece
method or making the blocks one by one and joining them.??
Also are there any statistics on how many quilts are made at home in the USA every year???
I am just curious.

That is a loaded question. They all very. Some quilters have a small shop/studio within the home. Some run businesses. It is all preference. Some only make small because that's all home space allows. Many started out as utilitarian needs for coverings on beds for warmth. Some for decorating such as the wall hangings. Some have multipurpose for decorating/displaying and wall hanging. So many variables. You want numbers? best thing is to Google/search.

I would assume that most quilts are made in America by quilters in their home. I make them mostly for charity or gifts to friends. I did back 20 years ago make them for competition and then sold them but then China came into the quilting industry and the prices for quilts have dropped.
