Just a quick question. I inquired at my Janome dealer about getting the blue dot case for FMQ. I was told you could not use it because my sewing machine (6600) has a thread cutting device. Has anyone heard of this?

They talk about the blue dot bobbin case in this thread about a Horizon 7700 and I believe that has a cutter too. I wonder what the difference is?

Janome says the Blue Dot Bobbon is for use with the Memory Craft 11000, Horizon, 6600P, 6500P, and 6300P. Hope this helps.

The Horizon does have a thread cutter and I use the blue bobbin case. I'm not sure what the reason would be, but I'd ask someone else about your particular machine - there may be another reason...or not.

I think someone gave you some wrong info. :-D In fact, I discussed this bobbin holder with my dealer when I purchased my 6600. It not necessary if you don't mind making tension adjustments to your machine for FMQ. If you don't want to touch your settings, then this is the thing to get.

I think there are 2 different blue dot bobbin cases, for high and low shank machines.I bought one recently for my 4800, and I'm pretty sure there was a different one for the 6600.

You most certainly can use the correct blue dot case on the 6600. I don't think I would buy from Joann's though. Do the internet research and buy from a dealer. We just went to Lancaster to the AQS show and they were having a show special on them. I beleive it was around 40.00$
