reading the board has helped me gain confidence to venture into the quilting field, try new techniques and made me wish we all lived close enough to gather in a big ole sewing room for chats, giggles, teaching and friendships at least once a year! But, this will do for now. the tips, pics at accolades are so worth the time spent here! Kudos to the starters of this board and to all the men and women who share their wisdom and experiences and links and other crafting talents so generously here!

well, many use it to "baste" a binding on the quilt or hold a pc of fabric in place to applique. It washes out and you don't even know it was there. I tried it, spread a thin strip on the fabric, clamp it together till it holds and sew on.

Since I found this board, it is my go-to place for information, ideas, tips and tricks, finding things, photos of quilts, and FRIENDS among other things. Yes, I surf the web as well for ideas, etc. but the board is where I've developed quilting friends, unlike surfing does. Every morning I spend (too much) time reading the board while I drink my morning coffee. If I post a question or request, I know that someone will respond. Thank you, quilting friends!!

You don't have to put a line of glue down.....use the metal tip (I bought just one of the Roxanne's glue bottles) and just put dots of glue on what you want to hold. It works great for applique pieces too....but then iron it. It dries the glue faster so you can move on. BTW Elmer's and the Roxanne's glue is the same formula....water based...will wash out when your quilt is washed, so no worries. I only purchased the Roxanne's to get the tip and now fill with Elmers. Check out Sharon Shamber's site to find tutorials on using glue to baste binding, appliques and more.
