I make all my borders straight, too - and have started making them from fabric lengths rather than from widths because it makes them so much more stable. I usually have leftover strips, but use them and cuffs for pillowcases and runners and such....

I cut straight, width of fabric, but join with diagonal perpendicular seam.

I cut all of the borders on the straight grain so that they do not distort.

I do all straight. I do sometimes miter the corners but I don't use the bias on borders only on binding.

It's cracking me up how this thread is getting so off the original post. Some are saying how they cut their borders, some are saying how they piece their borders (which is what the question was), and now someone is saying how they cut their binding. lol.

It depends on the print of the fabric, but probably mostly straight.

I might be understanding the question wrong but it's not cutting the whole border out on the bias just the seam if you have to piece the border. I feel like the seam is hidden better when you join with a bias.

I make all borders on the straight of grain. No stretching that way. Sometimes it is even hard to get them to lay flat. Lol
