I have the sidewinder, but I have trouble using it. Either the thread breaks or it winds too fast and I waste thread.YT was no help.

I had the separate bobbin winder and I gave it away. Found it was more trouble to get it out and set it up than to just use the bobbin winder on my machine. My machine does a great job of winding bobbins evenly. Another word of caution, if you are considering buying a winder, not all bobbins will fit on it.

I have several vintage machines, so I use the separate bobbin winder instead of trying to remember how to use the winders which are different on every machine. For my newer Babylock the one on the machine is easy peasy!

I use the one on the machine, although I've had a SideWinder for about 10 years.

My machine has a separate bobbin winder motor, so I can wind and sew at the same time. But before I had this one, I always used the one on the machine.

I kind find a much better use for the money I would spend on a separate winder!

A dear friend gave me a bobbin winder for Christmas last year. If I didn't get one as a gift, I would never have gone out and purchased one for myself. But now that I have it, I find it very useful. I use it to pre-wind bobbins before I begin a new quilt project. I guess it's one of those items that you don't know how much you really need it unless you get one.
