I've asked this on the vintage machines thread but not had any responses, so trying again - I've got a 1963 Husqvarna Viking zig zag machine - my Mum's, and it still works well. But I don't have many bobbins - does anyone know where I might find any? It seems to be easy to get the Singer ones, not so much for other brands.

Have you contacted Husqvarna Viking, by Email or sending a letter? Is it metal or plastic? If you have your old instruction manual it may have a part # listed, plus if you give the model # of the machine it may help.

Viking sells bobbins by 'group' number. You don't say what the model number is, but you can find the group by going to the Viking website and checking the photos. Bobbins for any machine in that group will be the same. http://www.husqvarnaviking.com/us/ac...earch_7260.htm

Viking groups their machines in numbers; like I have an old viking #1 and mine along with others is the number 1. This means that I can go into a quilt store that sells viking and look on the package and know what bobbins mine will take. I have the sheet at home as to what macines are in what group; that is what you need. When you have that # you'll also be able to buy them on ebay because it'll put it there. I'll try to look tonight when I get home and let you know. You need to make sure to enclude your model #; I know the 21 was popular during that time frame.

The model no. is 19 E - the ones on the website look much newer than mine. It's a great machine though - solid steel and still sewing quite happily.

The current bobbin number for your model 19-E is #401 17 70. They fit bobbin case #411 49 62-01.
This place sells a pack of 10 bobbins for $8.95.

This place has them at $1.15 each ($11.50 for 10)

I'm sure you can find more if you don't like these.

ETA: The second one does not ship abroad. Sorry. The first one is unclear about their rates, but I believe they will ship to the UK. If not, and you can't find a retailer who will, PM me and we'll work something out. I, too, have an older (mid-80's) Viking.

Thankyou very much for this. I have a friend in the US who is coming here at the end of June - her luggage is already going to include various sewing goodies because everything is so much cheaper there - looks like she might have to find space for another package :-)
And, looking at this again, I've already ordered some Featherweight bobbins from the first place!
