every year i swear i will not waste my money on another one...this year i am doing 3...but they are almost done...and next year? no way...i'm going it on my own.
the first one i did was through a lqs; i figured it out about 1/2 way through, if i had bought the yardage from the shop and the pattern packet i would have spent about $157; doing it month by month and buying the kits cost me $487; and that was with no shipping or sign up fees.
so, if you are considering doing one i recommend figuring out the actual cost and really checking out the fabrics. do you love them and cant find them anywhere else? is it the only way to do this quilt...do you really think it will hold your interest for a whole year? they do not let you decide 1/2 way through that you don't want to make it anymore; you are commited to finish the program. and if you are finding ones you like that have the $25 signup fees, keep looking, there are plenty of shops that offer the exact same bom without the signup fees.

I sure like the looks of Block centrals monthly blocks. 16.5 inch blocks. Wow. thanks for the web site. I've also noticed a lot of sites that do this monthly when I'm clicking around looking at things other people have mentioned on this quilting board. Sure keeps me entertained but away from my machine.

I absolutely LOVE this BOM series, but there's no way I'm paying $400 to do a lap quilt!

i purchased a bom from keepsake quilting a baltimore album - with backing & all i have invested ove $500. only have approx 4 blocks done b/c i had to stop & do baby quilts - the reason i did that is... i have no stash to speak of and i live 50 miles from the nearest joanns one way and 100 miles the other way. as God is my witness - I WILL FINISH that quilt. i also did a lock of the month from joanns at 2.98 or 3.98 each packet - bought it in 2006 or 07 and finally completed it in 2009. really enjoyed it - not quilted yet but i have a cousin in law that has a longarm - so...i really don't care if everyone in the county has one like it - they're not in MY house, so there... most of the blocks were machine applique - but i do it by hand - enjoy the hand work!

Planet Patchwork has a free BOM going right now. All 12 blocks, plus instructions for the borders, are now online and can be printed out. I'm doing them in two colorways -- one with the colors they have shown and one with a cream background and brights.
