Default Book to put on my wishlist?

My birthday is coming up and my husband wants to know if there are any quilting books I'd like. I bet there is, but there are just so many to chose from. I'd like a book wich I can use as a reference. Id like it to contain the different speed piecing methods of the basic blocks and the equations for them. Anyone know of a book like this?
I'd also appreciate any other recommendation on a good quilting book for an intermediate piecer and quilter.
    Thanks!

Watching this as I would love to have a book showing this all in one place.

Billie Lauder has great speed piecing books with tips and tricks. Not many new quilters know about her.

The best series I have found are Harriet Hargraves Quilter's Academy. It will be a series of 6 books, 4 are already out with #5 due out next year. They take you from the basics to designing your own quilts.

Quilts!, Quilts!!, Quilts!!! and Encyclopedia of Classic Quilt patterns are both great references.

In addition to your request for a basic reference, I'd also add Pam & Nicky Lintott's "Jelly Roll Quilts" published in 2008. I got it at my local Half Price Books and it's also available on Half Dot Com as well as Amazon. I've made 4 quilts from the book so far - all use 2.5" strips (jelly roll or cut your own) and the patterns range from a basic braid to a flower to an easy Lone Star.

I used to watch Billie Lauder on Simply Quilts. She was one of my favorite teachers. She had so many good short cut ideas

I recommend The Art of Classic Quiltmaking by Sharyn Craig and Harriet Hargrave. It's no longer in print, but worth it if you can find a copy. My opinion about the Quilter's Academy series is that it is okay, but poorly edited, compared to Harriet's first book.

Not sure if this fits, but I could not do without my Bonnie Hunter Books - all of them. There are patterns of course, but she teaches several ways to do certain blocks and here string block quilts are not to be missed.

I agree but didn't know about this series, I have her books about machine quilting and appliqueing and they have been the most important books in my library.
