Bookmark made from selvage?
#1
I'm making an Aloha quilt based on the Jennifer Chiaverini book "Aloha Quilts" with the fabric by RedRooster specifically designed for it. The book and the quilt will be a gift for my sister-in-law, who loves novels, Hawaii and quilts :-).
When cutting the selvage off, I realized it has all the special information that I'd like to capture ... book title, author, fabric name, etc., and thought what a cute bookmark I could make...perhaps a strip of the selvage between strips of the fabric(s) in the quilt. But I've never made a bookmark.
Any suggestions? I was thinking I'd just use some stabilizer between the layers and sew a tube...
Thanks so much!

P.S.
I look forward to uploading a picture but my laptop is out of commission temporarily and I'm using someone else's computer to post this. The fabrics are WONDERFUL!

I just checked out that quilt on the author's website. It's absolutely stunning!! I'm so looking forward to seeing your quilt...show us pics while you're working on it, please! What a great gift! And your bookmark idea sounds great, too.

Here's a link to a picture of the quilt (although I chose slightly different colors -- used yellow/gold instead of purple and the border [and backing] is the same fabric shown but with a cream background rather than black):

This is some info I just found on making a bookmark from fabric. Perhaps some of the info will be of help to you. I hope I copied and pasted the right site...never done this before. If not, hopefully it will give you a place to start!

JoAnn sells a packet of long cardstock with one side that is adhesive. It is pretty long so you could cut the in half. Take off the backing to the adhesive and press on your selveges and trim as needed. Punch a hole in the top, tie on some ribbon and you have a bookmark.
