    How about yellow or orange?

I like the left sample. From a distance, the check will almost act like a solid and will blend well with your other colors. IMHO, the right one is too busy.

My preference would be a skinny dark border (the blue numbers would work) to "contain" the scrappy center and then a wider border from a print that ties in some of the colors in the quilt.

I agree with loisf, I would go with the black that you used in the HST's, or pick up another of the earth tones used in your scraps. You're doing a great job though, I like it.

What happens if you use just a narrow strip of the dark and a wide strip of the light?

    Cheers, K

I like the black with the gold gingham.

I agree with loisf. I'd like to see some red borders.

Have you tried reversing the two blues, putting the darker colour next to the centre piece with the light on the outside. The other thought is, do you need two colours in you border? Would it look O.K. with just the black/blue number print?

I don't have enough of the light blue for the outside border.

I didn't want to use the black/blue number print right next to the scrappy quilt since there are many half-square triangles in that fabric on the edges. I think there needs to be something not in the scrappy quilt in the first border to make the lines in the quilt stop.
