To Border or Not to Border, that is the question?

I think that having it sit on this blue bedspread shows how nicely a border would frame the quilt. I would use a darker color (either a blue or a green depending on what your favorite is, I don't think there is enough brown to make a dark brown work well). Then I would bind it in the same color. I would not want to distract from the top, just frame it. I love the look of this top - scrappy, yet very 'planned' looking - nicely done!

I like borders on my quilts as it keeps all those seams from unraveling. Just look how you have your quilt on the bed, it sort of looks like it has a border from your bedspread. You might add a small sashing then the border too.

I usually include borders but not always. I think your current project is fine without one, but if you came across the right light background with bold colors on the front largish scale print in your stash I'd use it. I've found that I like borders larger than 6" wide, while I've gone smaller I'm usually not very happy unless it is a small project.
