I would border it in the blue and bind it in the orange, great quilt BTW!

    I agree with Crashnquilt

You know, scrappy has always made me nervous, but I absolutely LOVE THIS QUILT! Is it a pattern and if yes, can you offer up the name?

For a border, yes, I would. Rather than something wide or a color, why not just a slim border in white? This outer border would balance the inner and the white would be subtle enough to frame it without being a distraction.

The bottom is another quilt on the design board.

I really like your quilt! If you don't want to take away from the scrappiness, what about an unprepossessing narrow white border? I usually prefer borders to help stabilize all the seams at the quilt edges

Oh I just saw that Butterfli said the same thing! LOL

It is your quilt, whatever you like, but I like the borders you mentioned to give it a finished look. Love the quilt!

If the quilt is large enough for you already, skip the border and use some of that solid orange for the binding. It will still frame it nicely without taking away from the interesting pattern created by the scraps.

Here's an example of my scrappy quilt. Borders would have taken away from the pattern that was already created.

This one, made for my sister, is the closest to wild colors as you have in your quilt. It could be done with or without a border. However, it was never going to be on a wall and adding the border for a quilt always on the bed wasn't necessary.

Some quilts just don't look finished without a border. This one was originally going to only have that red as binding. It just didn't look right despite the fact that it would only be on a bed. So I made it a double border and was much happier with it.

I'd do a 2 1/2" blue border with a wider than usual orange binding. I did that with a scrappy and liked it.

I'm with sandrab64. I think a nice bright orange would frame it nice.

I vote for no border at all. I love it as it is. To me it seems like the entire outside of the quilt is the border to the inside "picture".
