Borders on only 3 sides?
I need to add a 9” border to each side and the bottom. I will have a few layers of pillows along the top....will I regret not adding a border to the top of my king size quilt?

What a wonderful pattern, beautifully made! If you want to turn it top-to-bottom you may want a 4th border and if pillows are going across the top anyway, they will "hide" the top border. For me, the answer would be "yes", add the 4th border.

When I make my bed I like to switch the top & bottom bedspread & also the sheets. That way I get even "wear & tear" on the sheets & spread.
I would put the 4th border on just in case I ever wanted to switch the top to the bottom of the bed.

If you put your pillows on top of the quilt, the whole design will hang lower on the bed. If you fold over On the pillows it will be the border that shows on top. So it depends on how you prefer to make your bed

I have seen several older quilts that were made like that. Even quilts with a slit to go around the footboard. I have made them both ways, I do love pillow shams. Personally, I make them with the 4th border if the pattern is reversible, top to bottom and bottom to top. If it is directional where there is a bouquet of flowers or something, then I don't put on the 4th.
